Colorado ACEP is now accepting nominations for the following awards:

Meritorious Service Award
The Meritorious Service Award was created in 2009 and the First Recipient was Steven Lowenstien, MD, MPH, FACEP. To be eligible for this award the recipient must be an active, life or honorary member of Colorado ACEP. The purpose of the award is to honor significant achievements that have enhanced Colorado’s Healthcare system and the profession of emergency medicine by exemplary service. Recipient’s personal leadership attributes will include, but not limited to the following examples: Inspirational, Innovative, Diplomatic, Planner, Organizer, Manager/Administrator, Arbitrator, Consensus Maker, and Decision Maker.

THE LEGACY AWARD
Dr. Vince Markovchick, MD, FACEP was the first recipient of this award. The purpose of this award is to recognize a member who has served as an active leader of the College for at least ten years and who, in that capacity has made substantial contributions to the growth and maturation of the College through an exceptional commitment of time and expertise. To be eligible for this award the recipient must be an active, life or honorary member of CO ACEP.
Required Nominator Information
The nomination form, nominee’s curriculum vitae, a letter explaining why the nominee merits the award,
specifically relating their background to the award criteria, must be sent to Colorado ACEP, 10465 Melody Dr.
Suite 101, Northglenn, CO 80234, no later than August 31, 2010 to be considered by the Awards Committee. Download the Nomination Form, fill it out and fax or mail it in.

Announcing the Colorado ACEP
Leadership Development Program Fellowship!
Program Goals:
a) Identify individuals with the potential to become leaders in emergency medicine;
b) Provide orientation and skills to allow potential leaders to promote emergency medicine locally and nationally;
c) Facilitate the promotion of program graduates into leadership positions both locally and nationally.
GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION
Interested CO ACEP members should complete the application form (see below). All individuals meeting the requirements will be interviewed by the CO ACEP Nominating Committee (either by phone or in person). One person will be selected for the Fellow position annually. The Nominating Committee will forward the name of individual deemed to be the first choice along with one alternate to the Board of Directors for final approval. The annual term of service will be from January to January – beginning with the General Membership meeting. The Fellow will be assigned a Mentor from the CO ACEP Board of Directors.

Colorado ACEP staff and members have worked hard to form relationships throughout the state resulting in open communications, increased visibility and inclusion with agencies and organizations such as the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, The Colorado State Legislature, The Colorado Hospital Association, The Colorado Medial Society, COPIC, third party payers and many more.
